Suvarnabhumi Airport hosts Safety Week Project in the aviation zone for the Year 2555

     Suvarnabhumi Airport hosts Safety Week Project in the aviation zone for the Year 2555 during August 6 -10, 2012 to educate staff working in the aviation zone regarding the working processes during the severe weather condition.

     Mr. Somchai Sawasdeepon, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) disclosed about the details of the Safety Week Project in the aviation zone for the Year 2555 that Suvarnabhumi Airport gives precedence to the safety of the staff working in the broaden aviation zone, where many staff are working each day on the runways, aircraft parking yards and aviation related areas. So each year, Suvarnabhumi Airport is hosting the Safety Week Project in the aviation zone and doing the campaign activity for providing the knowledge to ensure against the potential hazards in many aspects during the operation. For this year, Suvarnabhumi Airport will do the campaign in the subject of “the working process during the severe weather condition and low visibility”, since this period is the rainy season. Sometimes the weather condition could become severe and low visibility. If the staff working in the aviation area have neither knowledge nor the understanding and fail to follow the proper working process, it may be detrimental during the operation.

     Mr. Sonchai added that the event of Safety Week Project in the aviation zone this year will be focusing on providing more knowledge concerning the proper procedures and the working process to the staff working in the aviation zone, when the weather condition becomes severe, heavy rain and lightning or low visibility, such as the knowledge concerning the alarms, communication procedures, when an incident is befall, as well as the basic first aidfor the person injured by the lightning. These procedures will be used for practicing the emergency plan and are being shown in this exhibition.
