Passport check at Suvarnabhumi Airport is speeding up significantly.

     The passport check at Suvarnabhumi Airport is currently convenient and speeding up significantly after the Immigration Division 2 has mobilized more staff to be stationed at the passport check counters since the preceding Mid-March.

     Ms. Vilaiwan Nadvilai, the spokeswoman of Suvarnabhumi Airport said that since the preceding Mid-March after the Suvarnabhumi Airport and the Immigration Division 2 having had a joint meeting to find out both the short and long-term measures and the solution to speed up the delayed passenger’s passport check. As the short-term measure, both the Suvarnabhumi Airport and the Immigration Division 2 have mobilized equipment and 90 officers from the whole countryto additionally support the tasks in order to jointly solve the problem very urgently. In the part of the Immigration Division 2 has mobilized their officers from various check points throughout the country so that 80-90% additional staff station at the passport check counters. For the said mobilization of the staff Suvarnabhumi Airport has support the Immigration Division 2 with the initial budget of 100,000 Baht per day for a period of 60 days. Moreover, the Royal Thai Police has sent 50 Anti-riot Policewomen to introduce passengers on completing the TM 6 Form. In the part of Suvarnabhumi Airport, it has arranged its staff and hired 124 outsourcing workforce per day to introduce passengers on completing the TM 6 Form and to help organize lining up, which has been change to the Snaked Line.From the said operation it has made the passenger’s passport check more convenient and faster than double. Formerly it can be seen that in the rush hour there was collectively about 350-400 passengers queuing up at the passport check counters. But currently there are collectively 130 passengers only.

     Ms. Vilaiwan said that in addition to the said measure, on April 11 the immigration Division 2 will employ 16 Automatic Channel for inbound and outbound to serve Thai passengers, who are travelling abroad. The said system will help reduce a lot of the time and steps in passport checking and can accommodate the passengers during the Songkran festival as well. It was estimated that there will be 120,000 international passengers on average per day and the number of outbound and inbound passengers are nearby 60,000 passengers per day.

     Ms. Vilaiwan added further that both Suvarnabhumi Airport and Immigration Division 2 have planned to solve the problem in the middle term such as Suvarnabhumi will arrange for the travel agencies the counter for Pre-Check-in for Group Tour. Currently there are a great number of group tour passengers. If the mentioned Pre Check-in for Group is arranged, it will reduce a lot of the passport checking time of the Immigration and the congestion in queuing up in front of the passport check counter. In the part of the Immigration Division 2 will receive additional task force of about 300 persons. Moreover the Immigration Division 2 will consider amending the law to cancel the TM 6 Form for the Thai passenger.

     Ms. Vilaiwan added that with this close cooperation in solving the above problem a lot of problems have been eased up now. Therefore, Suvarnabhumi Airport would like to thank the Immigration Division 2 very much for giving precedence to the passenger service and to solve many problems in every aspect to ease the inbound and out bound passport check, in so that airlines and passengers are now very satisfied to the solution.
