The Airports of Thailand signs the Sister Airports agreement with Beijing International Airport to enhance the cooperation, information exchange between the two airports and foster an increase in air services between Beijing and Bangkok.
Ms. Wilaiwan Natwilai, spokesperson of Suvarnabhumi Airport, the Airports of Thailand Public Cumpany Limited (AOT), said that AOT, led by its President Mr. Serirat Prasutanond, General Manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport Flying Officer Anirut Thanomkulbutra and executives, went to the Republic of China to sign the Sister Agreement with Beijing International Airport on February 22nd, 2011. The President of AOT and Mr.Zhang Guanghui President & CEO of Beijing Capital Int’l Airport Company Limited were on hand for the official ceremony attended by distinguished guests such as Dr.Dong Zhiyi, President & CEO of Capital Airports Holding Company and Ms.Li Xiaomei, Executive Vice President of Beijing Capital Int’l Airport Company Limited. It is believed that this agreement will lay the groundwork for further cooperation in the areas of information exchange, airport operations, marketing cooperation, staff training, etc.
The spokesperson said that apart from strengthening the relationship between the two airports, this agreement would be beneficial for members of the Airport Council International of the Asia-Pacific Region. Due to the fact that Beijing International Airport is a leading airport in Asia, ranking the 4th world’s best airport in 2010 then becoming the second world’s best airport (for the airport welcoming 40 million passengers per year) rated by ACI in the same year, the Airports of Thailand hopes that this agreement would be the stepping stone for further cooperation between the two airports and would encourage Suvarnabhumi Airport to move further to be one of the 10 best airports of the world in the near future.
At present, the Airports of Thailand is fostering 6 airports in Thailand, namely Don Meung International Airport, Chiang Mai International Airport, Hat Yai International Airport, Phuket International Airport, Chiang Rai International Airport and Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
